Global Electric Motorcars, LLC, a DaimlerChrysler company, is the market leader in neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) transportation. Global Electric Motorcars, LLC has produced over 30,000 vehicles since 1998 and is committed to bringing new products, options and innovations to the marketplace. As a result of its guiding philosophy of "Listening to the Customer," Global Electric Motorcars, LLC has developed a family of fun, on-road vehicles. The vehicles have led the creation of a broad consumer, commercial and government application forneighborhood vehicles.

The Market
GEM vehicles are currently being used within master planned communities, military bases, college campuses and local city centers. GEM vehicles are perfect for transporting people, hauling goods within a warehouse, doing work around the yard, driving short-distances and for in-town travel.

Advanced Product Breakthroughs
Global Electric Motorcars, LLC assembled its first vehicle in April 1998. The original 48-volt GEM accommodated two passengers and had a top speed of 20 mph. Less than two months later, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) designated a new class of motor vehicle – the low-speed vehicle, in approving FMVSS 500.

To qualify for the low-speed vehicle designation, NHTSA requires a vehicle to be equipped with turn signals, mirrors, a windshield wiper, seatbelts, brake lights, headlights and taillights. Global Electric Motorcars, LLC positioned itself to take the leadership role in the industry, providing a fun, safe, and environmentally friendly vehicle that addresses problems such as urban sprawl and air pollution. Currently, 35 states have passed legislation that allows NEVs to be driven on-road.

Global Electric Motorcars, LLC is positioned to maintain its leadership position in the NEV market through continuous product improvements and new product offerings. For example, all GEM vehicles are equipped with a “smart charger” that monitors the state of charge of the batteries and initiates a charge cycle whenever the batteries fail to reach a pre-determined charge level. GEM vehicles also have a LCD drive information display that provides an easy-to-read speedometer, a battery state-of-charge meter and icons for everything from turn signals to warning lights. Over the past few years, Global Electric Motorcars, LLC has integrated an independent A-arm suspension system with coil over shock, a wider wheelbase, and an improved turning radius in all of its vehicles. In 2006, Global Electric Motorcars, LLC will introduce the e6 six-passenger vehicle.

Global Electric Motorcars, LLC will also offer 15 new options in 2006 that will allow customers to customize their GEM vehicle to best fit their needs. All of the available options are factory-authorized and have completed extensive testing at the DaimlerChrysler Automotive Proving Grounds.
